Buckhead Bats Go Silent in 3-0 Loss
|
The St. Louis Coeur beat the Buckhead Bowties, 3-0, at 5 Paces Park. Starting pitcher Edgardo García was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. García, now 2-0, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Chris Gibson picked up his 2nd save of the season.
St. Louis used the timely hitting of Ángel Macías to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Coeur ahead, 3-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"Edgardo just settled in and did what he does," said St. Louis manager Scott McMahon.
For the Bowties, the loss makes their record 8-12.
