The Boston Patriots and New Orleans Voodoo provided some drama for the home crowd.

New Orleans Voodoo pitcher Juan Castillo was in fine form, leading his team past the Boston Patriots, 2-1. The first-place Voodoo have won 5 straight.

Clint Sheffield came through with a big-time hit for New Orleans. The designated hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"If we keep winning the close games," Castillo said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
