Dayton beat Buckhead on the strength of starting pitcher Tom Schaefer's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-3. Dayton pitcher Ethan Henry earned the win, hiking his record to 2-0. Nelson Shaffer suffered the loss. Earning his 4th save of the year was Steve King.

Had Roberto Soto not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Soto hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Dirty Reds.

"Hustle and hard work is a big part of our success," said Soto. "Those qualities define our team."

With the win, the Dirty Reds hiked their record to 17-11.
