Win Makes St. Louis 18-11
|
The St. Louis Coeur picked up a win at The BFIB, topping the Kingston Ponies, 4-3. On the mound for St. Louis was right-hander Dan Hewitt. He played a principal role in the triumph. Hewitt, now 2-4, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs. Getting the save was Chris Gibson, his 3rd.
Marion Cassano, who finished 5th in the 3L in hits with 125 last year, helped out the St. Louis cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the second baseman went 2-4 with 2 singles.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Cassano.
This loss makes it 6 in a row for Kingston.
