Oakland Ruins Terrific Game by Gutiérrez
|
The Cape Coral Hurricanes overcame a pretty good performance by Oakland right fielder Juan Gutiérrez, beating the Oaks, 8-6, at Factory of Sadness. Gutiérrez hit 3 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring three times. Cape Coral pitcher William Morris got the win, upping his record to 3-2. Claude Moulin got the loss. After today's action, Cape Coral sits at 15-19; Oakland slips to 17-17.
Doing his part for Cape Coral was third baseman Brian Byrd, who stroked a run-scoring single in the bottom of the first. For the game, Byrd went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Byrd said in reaction to the win.
