Dirty Reds Lose, 7-3, to St. Louis
|
The St. Louis Coeur weathered an outstanding game by Dayton third baseman José Cuebas to topple the Dirty Reds, 7-3. Cuebas was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. George Washington, the winning pitcher, improved to 4-4. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. George Law was credited with the save for St. Louis, his 2nd of the season.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Ming Que? The St. Louis first baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Coeur on top, 4-0. For the game, Que had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We came in and did what we needed to do," said St. Louis manager Scott McMahon.
After today's action, St. Louis sits at 16-18, while Dayton falls to 21-13.
