Extra-Inning Win by Leviathan Over Hurricanes
|
The Nova Scotia Leviathan in 13 innings beat the Cape Coral Hurricanes, 3-1, at Factory of Sadness. Starting pitcher Ernie Gibson was a major factor, holding his opponents in check all game. Nova Scotia reliever Dennis Bates got the win, raising his record to 3-0. Fernando López was tagged with the loss. The win elevated the Leviathan to 18-16.
Nova Scotia used the timely hitting of Mito Kawamura to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 13th inning to put the Leviathan on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Nova Scotia manager Tyler Studebaker commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
