The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC got a marvelous performance from pitcher Hakizimana Kipkorir. The right-hander kept the Toledo offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 2-1 Thunder Bay victory at Great Northern Field. Jami Jokinen earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. The winning streak has now reached 5 games for Thunder Bay.

Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, 34-year old center fielder Leonard Saunders had a chance to be the hero. Toledo pitcher Jong-beom Park wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Saunders hit a sacrifice fly. The Northern Lions BC had themselves a thrilling win.

Kipkorir expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
