Late Heroics Net Dirty Reds 6-4 Win
|
Lang Park played host to some real drama.
The Dayton Dirty Reds needed 10 innings to beat the Charleston Battery, 6-4, at Lang Park. The win was due in part to left fielder Roberto Soto, who was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Steve King picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-2. Juan Carlos Mejía was tagged with the loss.
The decisive moment came in the bottom of the tenth for Dayton. That's when Fernando Salinas hit a 2-run home run off fan favorite Juan Carlos Mejía to win the game. The home crowd went wild.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Soto told the Dayton Herald.
Dayton is now 22-14, while Charleston is 22-14.
