Down to Defeat Go Coeur, 9-7
Chia-ch'ing Chen had a good game, but he could not keep the St. Louis Coeur from falling, 9-7, to the Dayton Dirty Reds at Lang Park. The St. Louis right fielder went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 in the loss. Dayton pitcher Juan Rodríguez got the win. He's now 4-1. Dan Hewitt was tagged with the loss. Dayton is now 22-14. St. Louis is 17-19.

The Dirty Reds got a lift from center fielder Edgar Zwarthoed, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a 2-run double. His 3rd double of the season put the Dirty Reds on top, 9-1.

"The team always comes first," Zwarthoed told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
