Penni Lifts Grey Wolves to 7-4 Triumph
|
Basilio Penni was instrumental in his team's 7-4 triumph over the Long Island Lighthouse. The third baseman was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Vancouver Grey Wolves. Pat Butler, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 6 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 3-3. Waweru Kamili earned the save for Vancouver, his 4th of the year.
Vancouver took the lead in the top of the fifth when Penni hit a 3-run home run. His 6th home run of the season made the score 3-0, Vancouver.
"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Penni told the Vancouver Observer.
The Grey Wolves raised their record to 14-13.
