Brass Handle Syracuse, Snag 3-1 Win
|
Fans of the Baton Rouge Brass who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Baton Rouge win over the visiting Syracuse Starks, 3-1. Yoshimasa Sato started for the home team against Jorge Toledo. Yoshimasa Sato earned accolades for his performance. Anthony Bailey, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2058 draft, earned the save for Baton Rouge.
The Brass got a big at-bat from shortstop Johnathan Erickson. For the game, Erickson was 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Baton Rouge a 2-0 lead.
Baton Rouge manager Luis Ruíz commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
