July's Pitcher of the Month Goes to Whitney

When Brandon Whitney takes the hill, he usually takes command of the game -- at least that's the way it was in July. The outcome was usually a Baton Rouge victory. His fine 4-0 performance earned him the USPL Triple A Pitcher of the Month trophy.
The talented Brass hurler made 5 starts, worked 30.2 innings, permitted 25 base hits, and struck out 28 while putting up a 2.93 ERA.
To date this year, in 5 starts, Whitney has crafted a 4-0 mark with a 2.93 ERA.

Allen Snags PAAA Batting Honor in July

Justin Allen, the Montreal first baseman, certainly made a name for himself this past month. He banged out a .344 batting average with 32 hits, 10 home runs, 26 RBIs and scored 21 times.
That kind of hitting earned him the USPL Triple A Batter of the Month honors for July.
Allen currently has a .269 batting average with 43 hits, 12 homers, 33 RBIs, 34 runs scored and a .326 OBP.

Strong Set to Retire

The Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds will not have the services of Tim Strong next season. The 40-year-old has announced he will retire at the conclusion of this year.
"I've reached my best before date," the Quincy, Illinois native quipped.
Strong's career numbers include 291 appearances, 26 wins, 26 losses, 73 saves, 396.2 IP, 496 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.86.
