Capmany Extends Hit Streak to 25 Games

Nobody has been able to shut down Memphis Redbirds catcher Jesús Capmany in recent days. The Bloomington Longnecks fared no better than the rest.

Today at Lookouts Ballpark, Capmany picked up 3 hits in 5 at-bats en route to a 6-2 Redbirds victory. It stretched his hitting string to 25 consecutive games.
Jesús Capmany doubled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, grounded out in the 8th and hit a two-run double in the 9th.

Presently Capmany is hitting .283 with 9 home runs and 33 RBIs. He has played in 61 games and scored 31 times.
Texas's Starter Receives PAAA Pitching Award

Earl Hurdle took a much-deserved turn in the spotlight earlier today as he accepted the USPL Triple A Pitcher of the Month award for July.

The 22-year-old Bronze Sox starter is a relative newcomer to the league, but nonetheless racked up an impressive 4-1 won-lost record in 5 starts. This month he fanned 35 batters in 33.1 innings and compiled a 3.51 ERA.

This season Hurdle has compiled a 4-1 record with a 3.23 ERA.
Seco Wins Best Bat Trophy in July

July's USPL Triple A Batter of the Month trophy was claimed by first baseman Javier Seco of the Baton Rouge Brass.

Last month he compiled a .360 batting average with 7 home runs, 17 RBIs, 17 runs scored and a .431 on-base percentage.

Looking at his season stats, Seco has compiled a .337 batting average and a .398 on-base percentage, while hitting 14 home runs and driving in 39 runs.
