The Baton Rouge Brass and Syracuse Starks were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

The Syracuse Starks beat the Baton Rouge Brass, 9-6, at Stark Stadium. Syracuse third baseman Ramiro Rivera had an outstanding performance. He was 2-2 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Miguel Bruno earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Mario Méndez earned the save, his 1st.

Chipping in for Syracuse was catcher Bob Hansen. He stroked a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, Hansen went 1 for 4 with a double.

"It was a nice win for our side today," said Starks manager Gabriel Madrigal. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."

Baton Rouge, with the loss, is 1-1.
