Thompson Shines in 12-6 Bakersfield Win
The Bakersfield Nobles stormed past the Philadelphia Liberty Reserves, 12-6, at Jerome Grounds. Bakersfield center fielderMike Thompson led the hit parade. He was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Bakersfield reliever Dave Bass picked up the win to move to 1-0. Dave Doran suffered the loss. The win takes Bakersfield to 1-2.

Ignacio Aguirre hit a 2-run double off Dave Doran in the bottom of the seventh, which put the Nobles in front, 7-5. In addition to the double, Aguirre had 2 singles, while going 3 for 5.

"It was great to come out and swing the bats," Thompson told the Bakersfield Times.
