Morales Leads Liberty Reserves to 4-2 Win Over Fighting Dachshunds
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of the 30-year old center fielder Juan Morales, the Philadelphia Liberty Reserves defeated the Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds, 4-2. Manuel Juárez was the winner. Over 7 innings, he yielded 2 runs on 8 hits, with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts. Peter Smith was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
Morales contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Philadelphia in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Morales took a fastball from Fernando Ríos and stroked the home run to left. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Liberty Reserves to leap in front, 2-1.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Philadelphia manager Kiril Neuvel.
The loss drops the Fighting Dachshunds to 3-2.
