A 4-RBI performance from the 24-year old right fielder Charles Brown helped the Monongahela Monsters beat the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys, 9-7. Iván Marquis was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Sean Long. Tetsu Gato got the save, the 1st for him this season.
In the top of the second, Monongahela second baseman Michael Jones had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Jones stroked a run-scoring single to left. It made the score 3-2, Monongahela. For the game, he was 1-5.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Brown told a Monongahela Herald reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
The win takes Monongahela to 2-3.
