Tight Tilt Goes to Redlegs, 4-3
|
The Sacramento Redlegs picked up a win at Sacramento Sanitation Station, taking down the Baton Rouge Brass, 4-3. Starting pitcher Tom Ward was a big reason why. Ward, now 2-0, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing 3 runs. Chris Evans closed the door for Sacramento, picking up his 2nd save of the year.
Sacramento went up, 4-3, on Blair Conard's 1st home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Conard hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Baton Rouge pitcher Sylvain Maire shaking his head.
"Tom kept his poise and got the job done," said Sacramento manager Luis Ríos. "He was outstanding."
The win has Sacramento at 2-4.
