Toledo Stingers starter Gilbert Owen pitched his team past the Boston Patriots, 3-2. With the win, the Stingers improved to 14-15.

The Stingers got a big at-bat from catcher Earl McKinney. For the game, McKinney was 1 for 2 with a double and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 2nd double of the season gave Toledo a 3-2 lead.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Toledo manager David Bunting said.
