Nashville left-hander Javier Cuesta pitched his team to victory over the Syracuse Starks at Hot Chickens Park. The final score was 5-4. Cuesta got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 8 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Marlon Anderson earned the save for Nashville, his 2nd.

The Hot Chickens got a big hit from shortstop Ooze Abraham Siebert. Facing Syracuse pitcher Cisco Morales in the bottom of the fifth, Siebert pounded a 2-run double to right-center. His 4th double of the season put the Hot Chickens ahead, 5-2.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Nashville manager Paul Dawsey.
