Rainbow Mermaids Earn 4-3 Road Win Over New Orleans
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids and New Orleans Voodoo.
Starting pitcher Danny Landry pitched well enough to help the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids beat the New Orleans Voodoo, 4-3. Northern Virginia reliever Danny Landry got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Juan Castillo was tagged with the loss. Quinton Barnard picked up the save, his 4th.
Alfredo Gómez dealt the Voodoo a blow in the top of the eighth. Batting with runners on 1st and 3rd and Northern Virginia leading 3-1, Gómez hit a 1-2 cutter for a run-scoring single.
"You work hard, day in and day out, hoping to give the fans something to cheer about. Today was a good day," Landry told the Northern Virginia Bulletin.
With the win, Northern Virginia raised its record to 17-13.
