Stingers Deal Liberty 2-1 Loss
The Toledo Stingers earned a close win over the Philadelphia Liberty, thanks in part to Jacobim Mugatu. The Toledo left-hander, who is tied for 8th in the PL in strikeouts with 37, played a key role in the 2-1 victory. Mark Garland, credited with the win in relief, is now 4-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. Toledo occupies second place in the Premier League at 19-11.

Up to bat in the bottom of the 13th, 25-year old catcher David Ruíz had a chance to be the hero. Philadelphia pitcher Howard Moore had other ideas. But with one out, Ruíz hit a sacrifice fly. The Stingers had themselves a dramatic win.

Ruíz attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
