Brass Stick Starks with 5-2 Loss
|
The Baton Rouge Brass defeated the Syracuse Starks, 5-2. Left Fielder Tom Windus deserved a large share of the credit. Windus was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 times for the Brass. Wyatt Butler snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-0 on the season. Millard Clement suffered the loss. Earl Alaniz finished the game for Baton Rouge and earned his 1st save.
The Brass got a big hit from right fielder Ricardo Martínez. In the bottom of the sixth, Martínez smacked a 3-run home run off Syracuse pitcher Millard Clement. It was his 2nd home run of the season. Suddenly, the Brass were ahead, 4-2.
"Just trying to keep things simple and helping the team win any way I can," Windus told a local reporter after the game.
The win gives Baton Rouge a record of 6-3.
