Billy Goats Tag Mockingbirds with 2-0 Loss
|
Magnolia Park was the site of a competitive game between the Memphis Mockingbirds and Colorado Billy Goats.
Lou Bancroft imposed his will on the Mockingbirds from the get-go. Relying mainly on his fastball, the right-hander spearheaded the 2-0 Colorado triumph. Min Der, who won the Newcomer of the Year Award in 2053, earned the save for Colorado.
A crucial at-bat came with the bases empty and no one out in the top of the sixth inning. That's when right fielder Jeff Hines, who is tied for 8th in the PL with a .392 on-base percentage, hit a double. The Billy Goats went on to win.
Colorado manager Mack Kilkeary commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
The Billy Goats are now 14-17, while the Mockingbirds fall to 15-16.
