Toronto Triumphs with Late Surge
Northern Virginia got a valiant performance from pitcher Pablo Valentín, but it wasn't enough to beat the Toronto Thunder. Toronto won the game, 5-2. Valentín threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Toronto is now 19-14, Northern Virginia 17-16.

The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Dennis Kemp came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Northern Virginia pitcher Ed Davenport, he hit a full count sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Toronto on top, 2-1.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Toronto manager Jordan Smith. "Our pregame was pretty good."
