Tritons Get Clutch Win Versus Ellenburg
|
The Jersey City Tritons beat the Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds, 4-3, at Dog Park in Ellenburg. The win was due in part to left fielder Jing-zhong Ng, who went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. The winning pitcher was 36-year old left-handed pitcher Stanton Maxwell. He tossed 102 pitches over 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. The Tritons with just their 4th win in 14 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.
Jersey City used the hitting of Rick Torraville to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Tritons on top, 4-3. For the game, Torraville had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Both teams played hard," said Jersey City manager John Sirica.
