Justin Jacobson had a good game, but he could not keep the Mexico City Blue Demons from falling, 5-4, to the Toledo Stingers at Condor Nest. The Mexico City designated hitter went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 in the loss. Mark Garland, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 9 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 3-2. Sam Myers finished to wrap up his 10th save.
Gregg Curtis drove in one run for Toledo. With one out and the game tied in the top of the seventh inning, Curtis, who finished 5th in the PL in hits with 118 in 2059, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Mexico City hurler Tom Johnston, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Stingers a 5-4 lead.
"We found a way to get it done," Curtis said.
Toledo now sits at 17-16, while Mexico City falls to 14-19.
