Shredders Capture Close Win
|
Hollywood beat Toronto at Thunder Field, eking out a 6-5 win. The triumph was primarily due to second baseman Maverick Miller. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Nick Stewart notched his 2nd save of the season. The second-place Shredders have a record of 20-15.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Esteban Ortega? The 27-year old right fielder Ortega stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put Hollywood up, 6-5. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"If we play well, we'll win our share of games," said Miller. "The only team that can beat us is us."
