Fighting Dachshunds Deal Squirrel Monkeys 6-1 Loss
The Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds defeated the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys, 6-1, at The Zoo in Syracuse. Ellenburg was led by 23-year old right fielder Kelsey Verbiest, who was 1-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Ellenburg reliever Holden Roberts snagged the win, upping his record to 3-1. Cody Beasley shouldered the loss. The Squirrel Monkeys drop to 8-8 and continue their mediocre start to the 2063 season.

Aloysius Minch had a big 2-run home run for the Fighting Dachshunds in the top of the third inning. With Ellenburg trailing 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Cody Beasley, who is rated as the 69th best prospect by BNN, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Fighting Dachshunds on top, 2-1.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Verbiest. "And not try to do too much."
