Liberty Reserves Get Past Syracuse for 6-5 Win
The Philadelphia Liberty Reserves defeated the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys, 6-5, in part because of first baseman Jim Klein. Klein was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times for the Liberty Reserves. Peter Smith wrapped it up, recording his 4th save. The loss drops Syracuse to 9-10.

Klein had an important at-bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the eighth, when he hit a solo home run. The Liberty Reserves went on to win.

"You need to show up when your number's called," said Klein.
