Bill Strong was a vital contributor to the 6-5 Syracuse victory over Baton Rouge. The Starks left fielder was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. Mario Méndez, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit. Syracuse is now 9-10.

In the bottom of the sixth, Syracuse center fielder Carlos Díaz put his team on top. With two out and the bases loaded, he hit his 3rd double of the year. Baton Rouge pitcher Matt Jenkins served it up. Just like that, the Starks were ahead, 6-4.

"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Strong. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
