Sacramento turned a fine outing from starter Curt Case into a victory over the Jersey City Tritons at Sacramento Sanitation Station. The final score was 4-1. Jeff Rodríguez earned the save for Sacramento. Sacramento goes to 8-11.

The Redlegs got a big hit from left fielder Mike McVeigh. Facing Jersey City pitcher Bob Ashley in the bottom of the fifth, McVeigh pounded a 3-run home run to right-center. His 2nd home run of the season put the Redlegs ahead, 3-1.

"It never gets old," said Case. "Winning, that is."
