Nobles Earn Late 4-3 Win
|
Kansas got a valiant performance from pitcher John Turner, but it wasn't enough to beat the Bakersfield Nobles. Bakersfield won the game, 4-3. Turner threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Bakersfield reliever Ed Dodman picked up the win to move to 1-1. Kenny Flint suffered the loss. With the loss, Kansas is 11-8.
Bakersfield got a clutch hit from Vern Gordon. The catcher launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.
"We did a lot of things right," said Gordon.
