The Bakersfield Nobles and Montreal Machine obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.

The Bakersfield Nobles turned back the Montreal Machine, 5-4, at Jerome Grounds. Mark Proctor, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 2-4 with 2 home runs. The Machine, now 6-13, continue their inauspicious start.

The Nobles got a big at-bat from center fielder Will Johnson. For the game, Johnson was 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Bakersfield a 4-2 lead.

"It was our day today," Johnson told the Bakersfield Today. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
