Tritons Victorious at Bakersfield, 6-2
|
The Jersey City Tritons picked up a win at Jerome Grounds, downing the Bakersfield Nobles, 6-2. On the mound for Jersey City was right-hander Nathan Sims, who played a pivotal role in the win. Sims yielded 2 runs over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 9 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 3-2. The win leaves Jersey City with a record of 10-9.
Jersey City used a well-timed hit by José Bazaldua to capture the win. The right fielder socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Tritons ahead, 6-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Nathan gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Jersey City skipper Steve Bryan.
