Squirrel Monkeys Lose to Liberty Reserves in Walk-Off
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Philadelphia Liberty Reserves and the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys, pitcher Kasper Berg was the difference between victory and defeat. The Philadelphia right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 2-1 Liberty Reserves win. Tong-kyu Ko, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings. Syracuse's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 1-1, 31-year old center fielder Alberto Montés won it for Philadelphia. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Montés hit a first pitch fastball from Miguel López for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 2-1 win.
"It's a thrill to get that kind of win," Montés said.
