Monsters Win at Bakersfield, 5-4
|
The Monongahela Monsters locked up a win at Jerome Grounds, knocking off the Bakersfield Nobles, 5-4. On the mound for Monongahela was right-hander Joe Hudson. He played a major role in the triumph. Hudson, now 2-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing 4 runs. The 8th-place Monsters sport a record of 9-12.
Monongahela used a clutch at-bat from Gorgonio Arboleda to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Monsters ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," Hudson told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."
