The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Philadelphia fans at Liberty Park.

Behind a fine performance from Steve Edwards, the Philadelphia Liberty knocked off the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 8-6. Edwards was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk for the Liberty. Philadelphia is now 4-0.

Philadelphia took control in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and the bases loaded, Javier Rivera hit a run-scoring single to make it 7-6, Liberty.

In comments to the Philadelphia Observer, Rivera admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
