Stingers Drop Bullets, 2-1
|
Larry Wallace pitched well, but the Baltimore Bullets still fell short, losing, 2-1, to the Toledo Stingers at Baltimore Grounds. Toledo pitcher Gilbert Owen got the win, upping his record to 4-2. Larry Wallace got the loss. Dave Hanna closed it out for Toledo, earning his 1st save.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Stingers had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the fifth, when second baseman Armando Otero hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Larry Wallace and made the score 1-0, Stingers. Otero went 1 for 3.
"Tough loss," said Baltimore manager Chris Schubert. "The kind that burns a little inside."
Toledo is second in the Premier League with a record of 21-17.
