Hot Chickens Lose to Baton Rouge, 6-2
|
The Baton Rouge Brass took Nashville pitcher Wendell Latham's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Hot Chickens Park. The final score had Baton Rouge getting past the Hot Chickens, 6-2. Latham went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 6. Peter O'Farrell earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3.1 innings. He upped his record to 2-1. Will Gordon collected save number 5.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Mike Henshaw Jr.? The top prospect Henshaw Jr. stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to put Baton Rouge up, 5-2. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"A great game, a great day," said Henshaw Jr. about the win. "I can't complain."
The second-place Brass now have a win-loss record of 16-8.
