Artie González brought his A-game to help Pennsauken defeat the Bakersfield Nobles, 2-0. The save was credited to Bill Hayes, his 1st. The third-place Flyers hiked their record to 17-8.

Pennsauken used a timely hit from Phil Thomas to get the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Flyers ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a difference-maker.

"Artie gave us a heck of an effort," said Pennsauken manager Dave Morse.
