Fighting Dachshunds Earn 3-1 Home Win
|
Ellenburg turned a fine outing from starter Bob Kelso into a victory over the Kansas Rainbeaus at Dog Park in Ellenburg. The final score was 3-1. Kelso, now 4-2, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Picking up the save was Sancho Sánchez, his 9th.
The Fighting Dachshunds got a big at-bat from first baseman Ricardo Álvarez. For the game, Álvarez was 1-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Ellenburg a 2-0 lead.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Ellenburg manager Pedro Rodríguez said.
The victory gives Ellenburg a record of 14-11.
