Both teams had their chances, but the Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds eventually prevailed.

The Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds withstood an impressive performance by Monongahela third baseman Felipe Torres to defeat the Monsters, 7-6, at Dog Park in Ellenburg. Torres went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Ellenburg pitcher Javier Vargas earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Eugene Ingram suffered the loss. Darryl Brady wrapped it up, recording his 1st save.

Joaquín Rodríguez took Monongahela hurler Eugene Ingram deep in the bottom of the eighth. His 3-run home run put the Fighting Dachshunds on top, 6-4. In all, Rodríguez had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"Nice win for us," said Rodríguez. "Now we'll go after the next one."
