Redlegs Topple Flyers, 9-5
|
The Sacramento Redlegs grabbed a win, 9-5, over the Pennsauken Flyers at Sacramento Sanitation Station. Sacramento designated hitter José Vera was 1-2 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Il-hwan Kim, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. Jeff Rodríguez earned his 8th save, after closing out the game.
Victor Haynes, who is rated as the 22nd best prospect by BNN, chipped in a run-scoring single for Sacramento in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.
"I warned the team before the game," losing manager Dave Morse told reporters, "that I'm wearing the same pair of undies until we win."
The win makes Sacramento 13-13.
