The Philadelphia Liberty Reserves picked up a win at Jerome Grounds, courtesy of Jim Ball. The right-hander helped his team stop the Bakersfield Nobles, 1-0. Ball got the win, improving to 2-2. He gave up 6 hits and walked 3 over 8 innings. He allowed no runs. Fred Briggs collected his 3rd save.
The Liberty Reserves got a big at-bat from third baseman Dan Cook, who in the top of the fourth hit a solo home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Liberty Reserves on top, 1-0.
"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Timmy Appeldoorn.
The Liberty Reserves now own a record of 17-10.
