The Baton Rouge Brass, despite a fine performance by Syracuse pitcher Alfredo Pérez, grabbed a 3-0 win at Brass Field. Pérez allowed 2 runs over 6 innings. The Brass now own a record of 14-13.

John Smith had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the sixth for Baton Rouge. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Baton Rouge in front, 2-0.

"We didn't score," said losing manager Ramón Barrueco. "That was the problem."
