Extra-Inning Win by Rainbow Mermaids Over Shredders
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids picked up a win at The Hollywood Bowl, knocking off the Hollywood Shredders, 8-6, in 10 innings. On the mound for Northern Virginia was left-hander Kip Hill. He played a pivotal role in the triumph. Northern Virginia pitcher Augusto Gonzáles earned the win, hiking his record to 1-1. Skip Lewis suffered the loss. The 9th-place Rainbow Mermaids improved to 17-22.

James Murphy, who finished 3rd in the PL in triples with 6 in 2060, went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Northern Virginia. In a tie game with one out in the top of the tenth, Murphy came through with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It put the Rainbow Mermaids in front, 7-6.

"It was terrific getting this win," Murphy said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
