The Philadelphia Liberty Reserves went home winners at Stade Olympique, thanks in large part to starter Franklin Vaughn. Vaughn stifled the Montreal Machine, enabling Philadelphia to grab the 4-1 win. The victory gives Philadelphia a record of 19-10.

It could have been a different outcome for Philadelphia, had it not been for Octávio Sandoval, the 25-year old third baseman . Sandoval contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put Philadelphia up, 2-1.

"Nice to tuck this win away," said Vaughn.
