Redlegs Earn 3-1 Road Win Over Montreal
|
Starting pitcher Brian McDaniel gave the Sacramento Redlegs a rock-solid effort. The Phoenix, Arizona native helped his team defeat the Montreal Machine, 3-1, at Stade Olympique. McDaniel got the win, improving to 3-1. He gave up 4 hits and walked 4 over 8 innings. He allowed 1 run. The 'W' lifts Sacramento's record to 20-10.
The Machine had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Redlegs going into the top of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old third baseman Evan Longboardia came to the plate. Longboardia hit a solo home run on a 1-0 cutter from Montreal hurler Devin Hancock. It was Longboardia's 5th home run of the year.
"Every loss hurts," said Montreal manager Alfonso Vera. "But this was a tough one."
