Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Hollywood Shredders home opener. Morie Wada started for the home team against Alex Thompson for the New Orleans Voodoo. The Shredders were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 4-2, New Orleans. Morie Wada, though, was impressive. Earning his 1st save of the year was Phil McKinley.

Rubén Vargas came through with a big-time hit for New Orleans. The second baseman smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to give his team the lead, 4-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

Vargas called the win "a team effort."
