A good performance from second baseman Xiao-gang Kong helped the Ft. Worth Cattlemen defeat the New Orleans Voodoo, 8-5. Kong went 6-6 with a home run and 5 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Cattlemen. The save went to Terry Lesage, number 2 for him. The loss drops New Orleans to 2-2.

The result might have been different, had it not been for 23-year old center fielder Patrick Mathis. Mathis had a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Cattlemen ahead, 6-5. For the game, Mathis had 1 double and 3 singles in 6 at-bats.
