Starks Squelch Tritons Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Jersey City Tritons were defeated, 3-0, by the Syracuse Starks at Stark Stadium, even though Derek Carter pitched well for Jersey City. Mario Méndez picked up the save, his 7th. The Starks go to 13-21 with the win.
Syracuse went up, 3-0, on Bill Strong's 4th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Strong hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Jersey City pitcher Jeremiah Harris muttering to himself.
"We've got guys willing to do what it takes to win," Strong told the Syracuse Bulletin.
