Nobles Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Monsters, 5-2
|
The Bakersfield Nobles took Monongahela pitcher Todd Hunter's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Timber Hawks Ballpark. The final score had Bakersfield getting past the Monsters, 5-2. Hunter went 7 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 6. Bakersfield reliever Juan Sánchez picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Richard McCord took the loss. The win puts Bakersfield at 21-13 this season.
Bakersfield used the timely hitting of Kelsey Pérez to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Nobles on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Pérez said.
