The Bakersfield Nobles beat the Syracuse Starks, 5-1. Bakersfield pitcher and Jacksonville, Florida, native Nick Johnston led the way. The winner in relief was David Sullivan. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.1 innings.

Bakersfield second baseman Jing-quo Au-Yong helped the Nobles go up, 3-1, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Au-Yong hit a 2-run double off Syracuse pitcher Jorge Vázquez.
