Pierogis Spoil Opening Day for Highlanders, Their Fans
The 2061 season did not get off to quite the start the Asheville Highlanders had hoped, with an opening day loss to the Squirrel Hill Pierogis at Asheville Park. The final score was 6-3. Reliever John Pope was the top performer for Squirrel Hill. Pope got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 6 hits and walked 0 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 2 runs.
